Printmaking

Activity: For this activity we colored a spiral background using different colors. I used pink, green, blue, and purple. Next, we drew our own pattern on a piece of paper. Then we traced our pattern onto a piece of styrofoam. After this, we took acrylic paint and spread it evenly throughout the wax paper. Then we rolled the paint onto our styrofoam. Lastly, we place the pattern upside-down onto our colored sheet and rolled on top of it with a clean roller to press the pattern down onto the colored sheet. We repeated this three more times rotating the pattern, making sure the same corner was in the middle each time.

Extension Activity: I would have the students draw draw their own letters and print make them on a sheet of paper. Then the students will have a partner and make words out of the letters they just made. I could also test the students using this method as well.
