Hidden Safari

Clues:

Activity: We used warm colors to make shapes and patterns to hide our drawing on the paper. First we drew an animal that we would see in the safari, using cool colors, while drawing it upside down on the sheet of paper. After we were done drawing the animal, we drew shapes and patterns in warm colors to hide our drawing. Finally, we could only see our hidden animal with red cellophane glasses what we also made in class out of the cellophane and paper.

Extension Activity:  We could use it in Reading class while reading poems. For example, you would read four different poems and then the teacher would pick a quote from each poem and write that in cool colors. The teacher then would also write the poem that the quote is from and cover it with warm colors. The students will be given the quotes and will have to determine what poem that specific quote is from. They can check their own answers by using the glasses. This could be used as a form of assessment instead of just a paper and pencil test.
