Footprint Introduction

For our first project, we had to outline of our footprint on construction paper. After that, we had to decorate it with 3 different types of mediums. For my footprint I used the felt to make a baby rattle and clothes to show that I am going to be an aunt. The felt number 16 represents that my siblings and I are all born on the 16th of a month. My second type of medium, I used corn to show that I grew up on a farm and that there is 6 people in my family. I also put 2 letter R's to represent my twin brother and I. The ribbon with pawprints represents my dog Molly. I also put a cotton ball with raindrops coming down from it to show that I love the rain. For my last type of medium I drew multiple pictures. I drew a sun because I love the outdoors, music notes because I listen to music all the time, a bike because I love riding bike. I also drew a "W" which represents Warner, which is my high school that I graduated from, a pizza because that is my favorite food, dollar bills because I work three jobs. Lastly I drew numbers and blocks to show that I want to become a teacher.

If I was describing this activity to another educator for an idea to use in their classroom, I would suggest using it a measuring tool, if I was talking to a math teacher. I would also say that you could use it for a Social Studies project and compare it to the presidents feet. I would also use these ideas for an extension activity as well. Another way you could do this activity is have the students bring in an object that represents their background.
